In the US Youth Soccer National Championship Semifinals, YMS Xplosion Premier (U16G) defeated La Roca (UT) 2-1 in extra time to earn a spot in Sunday's title game.
Murphy Agnew opened the scoring in the first half. A converted penalty for the Utah club, though, forced overtime. In the extra session, Caroline Foley played the hero when she headed home for YMS.
But the real star of the game was keeper Gabrielle Isola. She made more than a dozen saves in the win and was only beaten from the spot.
YMS will seek revenge against JFC in the final, a rematch of last year's championship game, which YMS lost. The game is scheduled for 9:50 AM Sunday.
Eastern Pennsylvania's other two semifinalists fell at the penultimate hurdle. FC Pennsylvania Strikers (U15G) lost 2-1 to La Roca Premier. Penn Fusion (U16B) lost 3-0 to Seattle United.
