Nether Providence Twp., PA. (June 5)—The Eastern Pennsylvania State Cup Finals concluded Sunday at Chester Park with the U18 and U19 boys and girls championship matches.
Lehigh Valley United Elite was the first team to claim a title. They defeated 1776 United 4-1 in the U18 Boys final, a performance that included a spectacular bicycle kick goal.
In the other games, FC Europa Sol defeated Penn Legacy Black 2-0 in the U18 Girls final and in U19 Boys play, Montgomery United scored in the second half of extra time to beat Lehigh Valley United 2-1.
Vincent United Pride took home the U19 Girls title earlier this month.
The Eastern Pennsylvania State Cup is part of US Youth Soccer's National Championship Series. Sunday's winners advance to the Region I Championships in Barboursville, West Virginia, June 30-July 5. Region champs will then play for the National Championship in Frisco, Texas against the best club teams the nation has to offer.
A total of 225 girls and boys teams ranging from U12-U19 started the competition in March. The U12-U17 champions were crowned the weekend of May 14-15.
