The Women’s Premier Soccer League Northeastern Division Regional Championships will be hosted by Penn Fusion Soccer Academy, Tri-State Champions, on July 23-24 at Penn Fusion Turf Field, West Chester, PA. The semifinal games will feature top-seeded, New England Champion, Boston Breakers Reserves against Mid-Atlantic Champion New York Athletic Club in the first fixture at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 23.
The second semifinal game will feature host and Tri-State Champion Penn Fusion against Colonial Champion, Washington Spirit Reserves at 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 23.
The Penn Fusion club features several players who grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer clubs and competed in the Olympic Development Program. The full roster can be found here.
Winners of the semifinal games will face each other for the Northeastern Divisional Championships on Sunday, July 24 at 4:00 pm.
This is the inaugural season for the Penn Fusion SA WPSL team. The team won the Tri-State Championships with 8 wins and 2 draws for a total of 26 points. The team scored 36 goals and only allowed 4. Rachel Hill, recently with the U23 U.S. Women’s National Team and a rising senior at University of Connecticut, tops the scoring ladder with 11 goals and 2 assists for 24 points for Penn Fusion. The team posted six shutouts led by their strong defensive unit and goalkeepers, Kaelyn Johns, University of Dayton, Rebecca Austin, Coastal Carolina University and Kahri Smith, Stetson University.
All games will be played at Penn Fusion Turf Field, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA. Admission is $5 for adults and children are free.
