Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Honors Mike Moyer with Excellence in Coaching Award

Mike Moyer Honored With Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s 2016 Excellence In Coaching Award

Plymouth Meeting, PA (Feb. 1)—Each year, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s Excellence in Coaching Award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of dedication to coaching and educating within our youth soccer community. Recipients have served with integrity, honor, humor and humility, and made extensive and far reaching contributions to the process by which youth soccer players and coaches are taught in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Mike Moyer, Director of Coaching at FC Revolution, is the 2016 recipient of the Excellence in Coaching Award.

Moyer will be honored at Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer's Annual Awards Banquet on February 25 at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to EPYSA.org/events/awards_reception.

"Mike has worked at the state, regional and national level, but he’s always remained loyal to his Berks County roots," said Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer CEO Chris Branscome. "He made his mark as a player and continued to grow the game as a coach. We are happy to acknowledge his great contributions."

Moyer’s coaching career dates to the early 1980’s, when he started directing soccer camps. He eventually earned his USSF National “A” License in 1987 and built a sterling resume from there. Moyer coached with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer ODP, won an Eastern Pennsylvania State Cup championship with FC Delco in 1995 and served as an evaluator at U.S. Soccer Federation National Coaching Schools. He also made his mark locally. In 20 seasons, Moyer amassed a career record of 382-108-16 with three boys teams and one girls team at Wilson, Exeter and Fleetwood high schools. He guided the Reading Rage of the professional USL to the club’s only division title.

Moyer is a member of the Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, the Wilson High School Sports Hall of Fame and the Berks County Girls Soccer Association Hall of Fame.

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s Excellence in Coaching Award has been given out annually since 2011. Previous recipients include Dave MacWilliams, Erica Walsh, Sheldon Chamberlain, Betty Ann Kempf-Townsley, Terry Underkoffler and John Oberholtzer among others.
