On Thursday, 23 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer ODP Teams and more than 400 players and coaches will head down to Williamsburg, Virginia for the annual Virginia Friendlies. The Virginia Friendlies has become the premier winter ODP event on the East Coast. Nine state associations send teams including Eastern Pennsylvania, PA-West, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Alabama and North Carolina. A few select US Youth Soccer Region I Teams will compete as well.

The event serves as both a showcase and a tuneup for the players. Eastern Pennsylvania's Under-17 Boys team will use their three-game slate to prepare for the US Youth Soccer ODP Championships in Phoenix the following weekend. The rest of Eastern Pennsylvania ODP teams will compete against opposition from other states for the first time this season. They'll get the chance again at June's Region I Championships.
