David Jones Named State Cup Director
Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer is pleased to announce David “DJ” Jones as the State Cup Director. Jones will be responsible for the operations of Eastern Pennsylvania’s three levels of state cup competition featuring over 1000 teams.
Jones has extensive experience as a plyer coach and administrator in soccer. An all-American player at Elizabethtown College, Jones spent time professionally in Ireland and with the Philadelphia Freedom. He also played for the United German Hungarians in local and national competitions. Jones was a successful coach at the youth , high school and collegiate levels. He was the head coach at North Penn HS and spent eight seasons as Temple University’s Women’s head coach. He was Eastern Pennsylvania ODP coach and part of a staff that won the ODP National Championship.
As an administrator, Jones was Director of Player Personnel for the Philadelphia Kixx and Executive Director for Montgomery United Soccer Club. He also oversaw Mon U’s various annual tournaments.
“DJ brings a wealth of experience and relationships into the position. He has a deep understanding of the history and tradition of cups as well as a genuine appreciation for the players and coaches that compete in them,” stated CEO Chris Branscome. “He’s a welcome addition and we look forward to another exciting tournament this spring.”
