The high school season comes to a close this weekend as the PIAA State Finals take place Friday and Saturday at Northeastern High School.
Teams from Eastern Pennsylvania are represented in all eight finals this weekend, each with a chance to close out their postseason run with a state title. Delaware County Christian reached the boys 1A final and will take on Bentworth, while Faith Christian advanced to the girls 1A championship against Bishop Guilfoyle. In 2A, Lewisburg moved on to face Fairview on the boys side, and Archbishop Wood earned a spot in the girls final against Burrell. The 3A matchups include Abington Heights meeting Conrad Weiser in an all-Eastern Pennsylvania boys final, while Radnor is set to play South Fayette in the girls game. At the 4A level, WC Henderson and Abington will compete for the boys title, and CB South and CB East will meet in an all-local girls final.
Many of the teams heading into the finals are led by coaches who have spent years developing players within the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer community. Abington Heights’ Frank Dyska also serves as the Director of Coaching at Abington Youth Soccer and Radnor’s Joe Caruolo coaches at the Radnor Soccer Club. Abington head coach Randy Garber brings decades of experience in the region, showing how Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s coaching community continues to shape the game across the state.
Friday and Saturday will bring the final matchups of the year, with eight teams leaving Northeastern High School as state champions. Best of luck to all teams competing this weekend!
