Union Roll Past Chicago to Reach Conference Semifinals

November 2, 2025 by easternpennsylvaniayouthsocceradmin

The Philadelphia Union left no doubt in Round One, defeating Chicago Fire FC 3-0 on the road to punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Tai Baribo sparked the Union’s fast start, striking twice within the first 16 minutes for his first career playoff goals. Bruno Damiani extended the lead before halftime, finishing off a dominant opening frame for the Union.

Chicago had a chance to pull one back in the 32nd minute, but goalkeeper Andre Blake came up big with a penalty save, his only save of the night, to keep the clean sheet intact.

With the win, the Union advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and will play the rest of their postseason at Subaru Park after earning the Supporters’ Shield as the league’s top team in the regular season. Philadelphia will host either Charlotte FC or New York FC the weekend of November 22.

Salone FC Featured on “Good Morning America” as Part of New U.S. Soccer and Chobani Partnership

October 27, 2025 by mweindel

Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania – October 27, 2025 – Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer club Salone FC was nationally recognized on ABC’s Good Morning America as part of the new U.S. Soccer Federation and Chobani partnership, Feeding the Dream.

The Good Morning America segment featured Salone FC during a live broadcast announcing the new partnership between U.S. Soccer and Chobani.

The team was practicing on the field at Subaru Park in Chester, PA on Thursday, Oct. 23rd when U.S. Soccer CEO and General Secretary JT Batson and Chobani Founder & CEO Hamdi Ulukaya called them over and surprised them with the news that they will receive funding to support player development and coaching education along with several other youth clubs across the country.

“On behalf of Salone FC, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Chobani for their generous sponsorship of the Salone FC Academy,” said Foday Turay, Founder of Salone FC. “Their investment is pivotal in allowing us to educate our coaches and grow the game of soccer. Their commitment to social betterments sets a powerful example for our entire community and we are proud to have their partnership in creating lasting change.”

The recognition comes as U.S. Soccer and Chobani announced a multi-year partnership making Chobani the Official Nutrition Partner of U.S. Soccer. The collaboration focuses on nourishing potential, strengthening communities, and expanding access to the game through initiatives such as coach-development pathways, the Soccer Forward Foundation, and new nutrition-education tools for coaches and players.

“Seeing one of our member clubs celebrated on national television is an incredible moment for our state association,” said Chris Branscome, CEO of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer. “Salone FC represents everything our game stands for: community, opportunity, and growth. We’re proud to see their hard work and passion recognize by U.S. Soccer and Chobani.”

As part of the celebration, Salone FC was invited as special guests at the U.S. Women’s National Team match against Portugal at Subaru Park later that day.

This collaboration highlights the shared mission between U.S. Soccer, Chobani and youth organizations like Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer to support player development, empower coaches, and strengthen communities through the game.

Union Survive Wild Finish to Win Round One Opener in Penalties

October 27, 2025 by easternpennsylvaniayouthsocceradmin

The Philadelphia Union battled through adversity Sunday night at Subaru Park, prevailing on penalty kicks against the Chicago Fire FC after a late two-goal lead slipped away.

After a back-and-forth first half to kick off the Round One Best-of-Three series, the Union broke through in the second half. Indiana Vassilev opened scoring in the 70th minute, finishing a sharp pass from substitute Mikael Uhre, and Milan Iloski doubled the advantage five minutes later after an impressive solo run created by Tai Baribo’s setup.

Chicago responded late, with Jonathan Bamba and Jack Elliott leveling the match at 2-2 to force penalty kicks. In the defensive sequence, goalkeepers Chris Brady and Andre Blake traded early saves before Baribo converted in the fourth round and Chicago’s attempt struck the post. Substitute Jesús Bueno then stepped up and calmly buried the winner from the spot to give the Union the advantage in the series.

Philadelphia will look to close out the Round One matchup on Saturday, November 1 at 5:30 P.M. E.T. at SeatGeek Stadium. Fans can watch live on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV or join one of the club’s official watch parties across the region.

Philadelphia Union Claim the 2025 Supporters’ Shield

October 7, 2025 by easternpennsylvaniayouthsocceradmin

The Philadelphia Union are 2025 Supporters’ Shield winners after defeating New York City FC 1-0 on Saturday. With the win, the Union secured their place at the top of Major League Soccer, improving their record to 20-6-7, setting a new club record for total wins in a season, and reaching 66 points through 33 matches played. The Shield marks the second in club history and guarantees the Union will finish the regular season with the best overall record in all of MLS, no matter the outcome of their final match.

The Supporters’ Shield is awarded annually to the MLS team that earns the most points throughout the regular season. It was first introduced by fans in the league’s early years as a way to recognize the top-performing team outside of the playoff format and has since become one of MLS’s most prestigious trophies.

This year’s Union squad has been one of the most consistent in the league, allowing just 33 goals to lead all MLS defenses, setting a new club record for away wins, and continuing to make Subaru Park one of the toughest places to play.

While the Shield is a milestone achievement, the Union’s season isn’t finished yet. The team also secured home-field advantage throughout the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, positioning them for another run at the league’s top prize. The Union will close out the regular season on October 18 against Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium before turning their focus to the postseason.
