2025-26 Laws of the Game Changes

As the soccer community gears up for the 2025–2026 season, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer is formalizing its process for sharing important updates with all competitive groups—including leagues, cups, and tournaments—prior to the official start of the competitive year on August 1.

In alignment with this effort, U.S. Soccer has implemented a new timeline for adopting changes to the Laws of the Game. Moving forward, all Law changes will officially take effect on July 1 each year, allowing for a consistent transition period ahead of seasonal play.

This timeline mirrors the annual update process followed by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Each year, IFAB reviews and revises the Laws of the Game before submitting them to FIFA for approval. Once finalized, those updates are adopted by U.S. Soccer and implemented nationwide.

To help clubs, referees, and administrators stay informed, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer has published a dedicated webpage outlining Law changes for both the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 seasons.

Explore the full update here: epysa.org/laws-of-the-game-changes/

We encourage everyone involved in the game to review the latest changes and share them with your networks to help ensure full compliance and a smooth start to the new season.
