The Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association is celebrating the incredible accomplishment of their very own JT Dorsey! Dorsey, a pillar of the local soccer community, was recently honored with the prestigious “Community Legend” award at the annual Legends of Soccer Awards hosted by the Philadelphia Union Foundation.

This award recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions to the game of soccer, both on and off the field. The Legends of Soccer Awards benefit the Philadelphia Union Foundation’s iAM Project, a program dedicated to building safe places to play in underserved Philadelphia neighborhoods, supporting youth soccer programs in Chester, and launching their new teen mental health initiative, Headfirst.

A Passion for Giving Back

JT Dorsey has earned this esteemed recognition through his tireless dedication to serving under-resourced youth and expanding soccer opportunities for all. As the Founder and Executive Director of the JT Dorsey Foundation, JT has provided vital athletic, academic, and social opportunities to younger children who might otherwise not have access to such programs.

In his role as Grassroots Soccer Manager for Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, JT has been instrumental in extending the organization’s reach into diverse communities and spearheading initiatives to promote the beautiful game.

A Legacy of Events and Initiatives

Throughout his career, Dorsey has organized numerous events combining his love of soccer and community engagement. These include the Cedar Cup in Lebanon, the Soccer for Success Festival in Coatesville, and Street Soccer at Harrisburg’s Kipona Festival. His unwavering dedication to fostering a love for the sport and creating opportunities for youth to flourish is evident in every endeavor he undertakes. Most recently, JT spearheaded the launch of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association’s “I Belong” Initiative, a program aimed at combating discrimination and fostering inclusion among youth soccer players.

A Soccer Journey and Beyond

A Coatesville native, JT brings a wealth of experience to the table. He played college soccer at Loyola University (MD) and professionally for the Hershey Wildcats, Reading Rage, and Harrisburg City Islanders. Since retiring from professional play in 2006, JT has made a positive impact as a coach for PA Classics Nova while mentoring countless young players.

The “Community Legend” award is a well-deserved recognition of JT Dorsey’s unwavering commitment to using soccer as a tool for positive change and empowerment within the community. The Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association congratulates JT on this incredible honor and looks forward to his continued contributions to the sport for many years to come.
