Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer announces several changes to the Board of Directors following its Board Meeting on Monday evening.

Jeff Sommer has resigned as President of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer after being elected Secretary of US Youth Soccer Board of Directors, and will also serve as a commissioner on the US Soccer Youth Council. Sommer, who has served as President since 2019, has held prior roles including Vice President, Secretary and District Commissioner, in his fifteen plus years of service to the Association.

The Association is excited to announce that Lennie Brown has been elected as the new President of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer. Brown, who served as the First Vice President, will serve as President until February 2025, the remainder of Sommer’s term. The position of president will be up for election during the Association’s Annual General Meeting.

“I am honored to serve as President of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer,” said Brown. “Our organization plays such a vital role in the development of young athletes, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers and community to grow the game and ensure every player has the opportunity to thrive.”

Brown has spent more than 50 years within the sport as a player, coach, referee and administrator.  Brown was previously the President of Octorara SC, President of the Lanco League and District Commissioner. Brown also served integral roles on the local organizing committee hosting multiple US Youth Soccer regional championship events in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Melissa Murphy Weber has been elected as First Vice President. Weber, who previously held the role of Secretary, will hold the position until February 2026 when the next election for the First Vice President will be held at the Annual General Meeting. Weber has been a member of the Board for over a decade as Secretary as well serving as a member of the Arbitration Board. Weber is an attorney at Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney and is a former PA State Representative. Weber has been a strong advocate for youth sports both during her time as a local and state elected official and also as a mom of two children who are actively involved in sports including in Whitpain Recreation Association’s travel soccer program.

“I am excited to take on the role of First Vice President and partner with Lennie, Bill and my other Board colleagues as we head into an energizing next two years fueled by some terrific growth in registration and interest in youth soccer and, of course, the World Cup,” said Weber.

Bill Ross, who served as the District 3 Commissioner, has been elected as Secretary of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer. Ross will also serve in this role until February 2026 when the position will be up for election at the Annual General Meeting.

Bill is a long-time coach and referee and served as the President of the Lehigh Valley Youth Soccer League 2015-2019. Ross is also active with TOPSoccer, reaching out to disabled players in the state. Ross has served as both the Board chairman and Administrator for the Lower Saucon Authority. He recently completed his term as President of the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association.

The District 3 Commissioner role vacated by Ross will be up for election at the Annual General Meeting, scheduled for February 2025.
