PHILADELPHIA – A packed house at Lincoln Financial Field witnessed an entertaining 2-2 draw between Mexico and Germany on Tuesday night.

An announced crowd of 62,284 turned out to create the kind of atmosphere that’s expected when the FIFA World Cup comes to the city in 2026.

The match was the first international soccer match played at The Linc since it was announced as one of 16 venues for the 2026 World Cup.

Lincoln Financial Field hosted three games in July as part of the Premier League Summer Series. The games included Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham vs Brentford and Newcastle vs Aston Villa. Announced attendance for the three matches was 170,488.

Antonio Rüdiger opened the scoring for Germany in the 25th minute but Uriel Antuna equalized 12 minutes later.

Érick Sánchez put El Tri in front just after halftime but Niclas Füllkrug responded with an equalizer for Germany four minutes later to round out the scoring.
