The Philadelphia Union left no doubt in Round One, defeating Chicago Fire FC 3-0 on the road to punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tai Baribo sparked the Union’s fast start, striking twice within the first 16 minutes for his first career playoff goals. Bruno Damiani extended the lead before halftime, finishing off a dominant opening frame for the Union.
Chicago had a chance to pull one back in the 32nd minute, but goalkeeper Andre Blake came up big with a penalty save, his only save of the night, to keep the clean sheet intact.
With the win, the Union advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and will play the rest of their postseason at Subaru Park after earning the Supporters’ Shield as the league’s top team in the regular season. Philadelphia will host either Charlotte FC or New York FC the weekend of November 22.
