Philadelphia’s third FIFA World Cup 2026 match delivered plenty of drama as France earned a 3-0 victory over Iraq at Philadelphia Stadium.

Kylian Mbappé led the French with a beautiful goal in the 14th minute. He added another goal in the second half, putting his name in the running for the Golden Boot. Ousmane Dembélé capped off the victory with France’s third goal. France controlled the match from start to finish.

The match was heavily affected by severe weather, resulting in a lengthy halftime delay. Play was suspended for nearly two hours as fans sought shelter inside the stadium. It marked the first weather-related delay of the tournament.

The win secured France’s place in the knockout stage and kept Les Bleus atop Group I heading into their final group match.

Philadelphia’s third FIFA World Cup 2026 match showcased both world-class soccer and the unpredictability of summer weather, as thousands of fans endured the delay before witnessing another memorable night on the road to the round of 32.

Three group stage matches are still to come in Philadelphia, and an exciting round of 16 on July 4:

  • June 25: Curaçao vs. Côte d’Ivoire
  • June 27: Croatia vs. Ghana
  • July 4: TBD
