The state of Pennsylvania requires several background checks for those who will be working with children.
The registration and background screening process will be managed in GotSport, Eastern Pennsylvania’s Membership Management platform. There are various requirements based upon what capacity you’ll be serving in, and how long you’ve been a Pennsylvania resident. For more on each requirement, read below.
Are You A… Volunteer Over 18 Years Old Who Has Resided in PA for Over 10 consecutive years?
1. Pennsylvania State Police – Access to Criminal History
2. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Check
3. FBI Affidavit of Compliance
Are You A… Volunteer Over 18 Years Old, who has not resided in PA for 10 consecutive years or more?
1. Pennsylvania State Police – Access to Criminal History
2. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Check
3. FBI Background Check – Fingerprints
Are You A… Paid Coach?
1. Pennsylvania State Police – Access to Criminal History
2. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Check
3. FBI Background Check – Fingerprints
SafeSport
Safe Sport must be completed annually. Safe Sport can be completed directly in your GotSport account. Please see this link on how you can complete Safe Sport in your GotSport account.

The courses should be taken as followed:
Year 1: SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation
Year 2: Refresher 1
Year 3: Refresher 2
Year 4: Refresher 3
Year 5: SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation (the cycle begins again)
Concussion Training
Concussion Training is to be taken annually. You can complete the Concussion training directly in your GotSport Account. Click here for instructions on how to complete the Concussion Training.
