Hosting a US Soccer Coaching Education Course(s)
Clubs that wish to serve as the host for an Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Educational Course must make the following accommodations:
Coach for Community:
- This course is a FREE course to host
- Must have a subject or topic to discuss in the classroom and field
- 1-hour course
- Candidates need to register and once course is completed, candidate gets a $25 voucher for a future course
- Need to provide location of the classroom/field turf.
Grassroots:
- The course will take approximately 4 hours: 2 hours in the classroom, followed by 2 hours on the field (can be subject to change).
- Courses are set up for a 12:1 candidate to instructor ratio
- Players of the correct age & appropriate numbers are required for the field component:
– 4v4 Course: 8 Under-8 players
– 7v7 Course: 14 U9 or U10 players
– 9v9 (U11-U12) or 11v11 (U13) Course: 14-22 players - Select a site that includes:
– Outdoor field with goals and, if possible, an indoor playing area to be used in case of bad weather.
– Classroom area with blackboard/whiteboard and a projection screen or area to project images. - Select a site coordinator for the course. He/She will be the contact person for Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer and is responsible for opening and closing the facility for the course daily.

D Course:
The US Soccer National D course is specifically designed for coaches working in the Grassroots environment. In addition to the course goals and learning objectives, the course experience is based on the qualities and learning needs of each individual candidate.
The profile of the D License Coach is the connection between the content, assignments, and the assessment of the assignments. The profile will safeguard the quality and standards of the D Course. The course is held in a ‘blended learning’ format over 32 hours, through a minimum of 9 weeks. To be eligible, candidates must:
- Complete at least one (1) online Grassroots License
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Complete the Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module
- Complete at least two (2) in-person Grassroots Licenses
C Course:
The US Soccer C license aims to support student coaches in developing competencies essential to lead programs for player and team development. Coaches who register for this course can expect weekly learning opportunities that will feature a mixture of independent learning using online modules, live virtual meetings, and a 4-day in person meeting led by a licensed U.S. Soccer Educator. To be eligible, candidates must:
- Candidates must have access to a team playing 11v11 (U13+) for the duration of the course.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold a U.S. Soccer D license for at least six (6) months, and
- Candidates must have access to a team playing 11v11 (U13+) for the duration of the course.
Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s Responsibilities:
- Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s Technical Director will assign the instructor(s).
- Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer will post the course on the state’s website, the U.S. Soccer Learning Center and promote the course. If the course enrollment is not met one week prior to start date of the course, the course will be cancelled or rescheduled.
- Certification and or licenses will be given only to those candidates who attend the entire course and successfully complete the course requirements. Licenses will be made accessible to the candidates through the Learning Center within three weeks after the course is finished.
