The U.S. Men’s National Team defeated Australia 2-0 yesterday in Seattle, securing its spot in the round of 32!
The United States got off to a great start when Bologun charged the defense, forcing an Australian own goal. The USMNT continued to control possession and create chances throughout the first half before Alex Freeman doubled the lead just before halftime. Australia fought hard in the second half, but the U.S. defense remained organized and composed, preserving the clean sheet. Eastern Pennsylvania was represented on the pitch with Matt Freese in goal and Auston Trusty subbing on in the second half. Pulisic remained on the bench nursing an injury but is hopeful to return to the tournament.
The victory places the United States at the top of Group D. The USMNT will play its final group stage game on June 25 against Türkiye in Los Angeles, California.
