2022 Fifa World Cup: USA vs. England Recap

USMNT faced off against England in their second game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Friday, November 25th. Being the established underdog against England for years, the US put forth an impressive performance during the match that ended in a scoreless draw, earning the team a critical World Cup point. Through the opening 45 minutes, the US really showed up, but they were unable to find an opening to secure a lead.

After halftime, it looked like it was all USA; the stadium was roaring, and England was showing signs of frustration. But at the 74th-minute mark, England began to get their momentum back. As the 85th minute approached, in what looked like a thrilling end to the match, both teams fumbled, with Matt Turner dribbling out of his own penalty area past two England attackers and Luke Shaw completely wasting a free header to end the match scoreless.

Next up, the USA takes on Iran tomorrow, November 29th, at 2 PM, where they must win to move on to the knockout round. The USMNT is currently third in the standings behind England and Iran, respectively. Be sure to tune in at 2 PM on Fox!
