September is Youth Soccer Month!

US Youth Soccer, the nation's largest youth sports association, announces the eighth annual national Youth Soccer Month – "Celebrating Soccer in America".

Youth Soccer Month 2010 includes working with local leadership to organize grassroots public affairs campaigns, numerous local events and media relations initiatives.

Events for Eastern Pennsylvania have been planned for September 21 in South Philadelphia with Mayor Michael A. Nutter and September 27 in Lancaster.  Both events will feature free soccer clinics run by Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer and free t-shirts supporting Philadelphia's bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018/2022.  All are invited to attend.  More information on these two events can be found in the "Events" section of this website.

“Youth Soccer Month is about bringing attention to the positives of our sport,” said Chris Branscome, chief executive officer of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer.  “This is an opportunity for us to shine a light on our world for others to see, which is why we partner with external programs, media outlets and our city and state legislators. The youth soccer community should be recognized for what happens off the field as well as on it.”

Since its inception, state and local government officials have officially proclaimed September as Youth Soccer Month to further the awareness and benefits of youth soccer.  Youth Soccer Month is a celebration for all of those who participate in soccer and those who would like to start playing soccer. The celebration highlights the various programs available to children interested in participating in soccer, including the inner-city, special needs, recreational and elite soccer.
