Honors a young referee active in Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer beyond his/her peers.


Application Requirements

Referees are a vital part of the youth soccer program. Young referees are the future of the program. Many of these young people started out on the field as players and for a variety of reasons, have chosen to give back to their local program by serving as referees.

U.S. Youth Soccer created the Young Referee of the Year Award in an effort to recognize the extraordinary effort and talent exhibited by these individuals. Selections are made at the state level and forwarded to Region I as representatives of EPYSA.

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer seeks nominations from coaches, local assignors, and associations for young referees. Candidates nominated must be 19 years old or younger and registered with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) as a certified referee.

Some information that should be included with a nomination:
Name, address, telephone number, age, parents names
Referee grade and experience - date became certified
Playing experience - length of time, teams, positions
First referee experience
Age and competition levels in which the individual referees
Frequency of refereeing (weekly, monthly)
Interesting occurrences or experiences
What makes this person a good referee
Other accomplishments: honors, awards, extracurricular activities
Community activities not related to soccer or school
Letters of recommendation from other familiar with this individual

Nominations should be filled out online by October 25th. They should include the name, address, club/league, and phone number of the nominee and the name and phone number of the nominator. In addition, a brief resume of the nominee and an explanation of their qualifications to receive the award should accompany the nomination.  You must have all of this information in order to complete the application.
