Minutes of the Meeting November 6, 2006, held in District 2

Present: John Sullivan, Michael Gove, Barry Rose; Wim Roset; Dave Edgecombe; Laura Baranko; Vic Engel; Damon Nolan; Joe Dizio; Ned Levi; Bob McDade; Donna Outt; Cindy Field; Kim DiFiore; Charlotte Moran. Also attending some guests from District 2.

Motion made to accept the meeting minutes for October with corrections, all approved.

Because the President, Exec. Vice-President, and Vice-President of Travel were not present, Ned Levi, Treasurer, conducted the meeting.

Reports
Executive Vice-President: Not present.

Vice President Travel: Not present.

Vice President Recreation: No report.

Treasurer: Our audit is coming up soon. Our cash balance is at 1.1million, which includes all of our accounts. Our Vanguard account is at $100,000 with an interest rate running just around 5%. I will be holding a meeting with the finance committee in the next month.

Registrar: Registrations were due into the State Office Oct. 1st. The following organizations do not have their fees in.
District 1- Roxborough; District 2- Haverford; District 3- Roslyn Boys Club; District 8- Donegal; District 10-Pocono Mountain; District 14- West Chester United.

SYRA: Cindy reported on the number of attendees at the intermediate clinics. 145 attended the Danville clinic, and 127 attended in Wilkes Barre. Certification for 2007 is now closed. Dates for 2008 certification and chapter registrations are on the website. Referees, who are students in college, may register by mailing in their renewal.

Exec. Director’s Report: Indoor Cup applications are online. Registration closes at midnight on 11/30/06 and online application shuts down. Please let your Districts know that registration for the U-9, U-10, and U-11’s, are low. The conflict of interest policy needs to be signed by all board members and returned by the next meeting. Please remind everyone that the Civility Patch Contest deadline is December 21st, the information for it can be found on the website. EPYSA has been given an $8,000 sponsorship from Aspiring Champions, Antonio Davis, Director. The sponsorship will be used for the Indoor Cup A-Level tournament. All of the indoor cup winners will be invited to a KIXX’s or City Islander’s game to receive recognition.

President’s Report: Not present.

District Report:
1. Parkwood Tournament to be held this coming weekend. Ross Haney would like to hold their tournament the second weekend in Dec. for age U-11 and up. They plan on having it every year on the same weekend. Their league registrar was in an automobile accident, but is doing fine.
2. The referee situation has improved, but the use of linesman at all Delco League games has made it difficult to get refs. Haverford S.C. handed out surveys to everyone and had the information accumulated for them online by Youth Leagues for a fee of $300.00, they said it was well worth it.

6. They are trying to rejuvenate the League Select program.

11. 127 referees attended the clinic in Wilkes Barre.
12. Not present.
13. 145 referees attended the clinic in Danville. Vic asked if anyone has a manual for parents.
14. Delco Soccer Columbus Day Tournament went well. The league struggled through the last two weekends with the weather, and the playoffs are just starting. Damon confirmed with Cindy that if you took your referee course during the calendar year, you are good for the following year.

Old Business: ODP try-outs officially over.

New Business: We have been asked to promote a soccer movie called “Her Best Move”. You can buy it online at www.herbestmove.com/purchase for a $3.00 discount of which $2.00 goes to EPYSA. A motion was made by Mike Gove, Seconded by Barry to accept the proposal. All approved.
Nominations for Coach of the Year are Biff Sturla for the boys and Sean McCafferty for the girls. Motion made by Wim and seconded by Joe to accept their nominations and present their names to the region for coach of the year award. All approved.
The tournament committee met and came up with five rulings.
1.) A player can for only one team in a tournament.
2.) A refund policy must be in place in the tournament rules.
3.) Permission to Travel forms are not needed unless you play in New Jersey, in Region I.
4.) U-17 and above your tournament must state if you are going to accept an 18 or 22 man roster.
5.) Games for U-9 and U-10 will still be 25 minutes in length.

Good of the Game: A special thanks to our hosts in District 2, the food was good.
Dave reported that the Solanco Boys High School Soccer Team has been cheering on 5 yr. old Bryce Roberts, whose father was the man who killed the 5 young Amish women in Lancaster County. They have also given him a ball signed by the team and invited him to come to practice.
Steve Wodotinsky, President of Inter-County and Council Rock sadly passed away.
District Reps. Marty O’Donnell (15), and Steve Julianti (4) have resigned.
Dallas DiFiore was appointed the Alternate for District 17.
