US Youth Soccer Workshop: Role of Board of Directors in Youth Clubs
Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer CEO Chris Branscome will serve on a panel discussion at the US Youth Soccer Workshop, part of the United Soccer Coaches Convention, discussing the “Role of Board of Directors in Youth Clubs.”
Branscome will be joined by three board members from Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer clubs: David Jones (Director of Recreation at Montgomery United), Jeff Heaton (Past President at Colonial Soccer Club) and John DiGiuseppe (Penn Fusion).
The meeting will take place from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM on Friday morning in room 104 A and will cover a variety of topics. The discussion will be comprehensive, covering best practices for volunteer-based clubs, community clubs as well as professionally organized and staffed clubs and the differences between them all. For example, volunteer clubs require operational roles in addition to policy-making, whereas with a full-time professional staff, a board should focus on policy.
Other topics include:
- The division of labor
- Reporting and cooperation
- Daily authority and boundaries
- Board structure: size, positions, voting power
All attendees at the United Soccer Coaches Convention/US Youth Soccer Workshop are welcome to attend. Discounted tickets to both events can be purchased at EPYSA.org.
