Scoring Goals for Autism
1 in 68 children is currently diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined. Yet, we still don't know why children develop autism or how best to help them. We need answers.
On Sunday, April 27th, Autism Science Foundation (ASF) will kick-off its 4th Annual Scoring Goals for Autism adult soccer tournament at YSC Sports, Wayne.
This event will raise money to fund research to find the causes of autism and develop better treatments for children, teens and adults with autism. ASF currently funds research being conducted at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Center for Autism Research, Marcus Autism Center at Emory, and at other leading research centers around the country.
The tournament will include a fun, non-competitive skills and drills clinic for children and teens with special needs including autism. The clinic will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and will be run by TOPSoccer coaches and trained volunteers. The TOPSoccer clinic is designed to bring the fun of soccer to all athletes by encouraging players and building confidence in a friendly and supportive environment. Players and coaches from the Philadelphia Union will be participating in the TOPSoccer clinic! All skill levels are welcome.
