Fair Play & Respect: Central League Takes On Initiative To Provide Positive Playing Environment

central league webpage

Since it began play in 2012, the Central League has always kept the best interests of its families in mind. Founded on the motto "more soccer, less travel," the Central League has grown from six participating clubs to more than 30 in both boys and girls play.

Now, the league is working to promote that same ideal, while also reaffirming its status as a family-friendly league. The Central League has announced a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance, which helps "those in youth and high school sports create a positive, character-building youth sports culture."

"We have always had our primary focus on what was in the best interest of the players," said Jeremy Brodovsky, Director of Operations of the Central League. This move certainly fits the league's mission.

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer applauds the Central League's initiative. The state association has long advocated for working relationships between coaches, players, parents and referees.

In the most recent issue of Touchline, CEO Chris Branscome outlined his thoughts on maintaining respect and perspective from the sideline: From Our CEO: Think About Respect & Perspective This Season

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer also encourages clubs to wear "Respect" and/or "Fair Play" patches on their uniforms. These patches are free for all members and are intended to serve as reminders for all involved in youth soccer that sportsmanship and a positive should be at the top of an organization's priorities. Orders can be placed here: Fair Play & Respect Patches

For more information on how to improve sideline behavior, contact Technical Director Mike Barr or Director of Soccer Development & Performance Gary Stephenson in the coaching education department to set up a meeting or phone call.

Congratulations to the Central League and best of luck this season.
