COACHING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
 
Overview of the U.S. Soccer License Progression
Level 3 - National "A" License ---> "A" License renewal (CEU Program)
Level 2 - National "B" License

For the field sessions & each of the courses, coaches are expected to participate as players unless they are sick or injured.  Please be prepared to participate in the sessions by dressing appropriately.

Candidates must hold the “E” License for at least 1 year or have significant College Playing Experience
 
They must be at least 18 years of age
38 Hours Total:
7 Hours – Theory in Classroom
21 Hours – Practical Field Sessions
1.5 Hours – Written Test
6.5 Hours – 8.5 Practical Field Test
·         - Prepare coaches to further develop the player's technical abilities and their application within the game
·         - Increase the understanding of the Principles of Play and how they are applied in the game
·         - Expand the coaches understanding of 11 a-side soccer and the importance of developing a team system that is based on the player's abilities
“E” License
 
$50 per candidate
Candidates must be at least 14 years of age
18 Hours Total:
6 Hours - Theory in Classroom
10 Hours - Practical Field Sessions
2 Hours - Practical Coaching with Candidates
 
No formal testing

 
·         - This course is the first course for coaches who will be coaching 8 a-side soccer.
·         - Introduction to the methodology of coaching and the four components of coaching soccer, Technique, Tactics, Fitness and Psychology.
·         - Field sessions concentrate on developing technique within small-sided games that also present problems for players to solve within the game.
 
"G" & "F" Certificate Courses
Formerly Youth Modules - Level I& II
 
$30 per candidate
(Includes 2 DVDs)
Candidates must be at least 14 years of age
4 Hours Total:
1.5 Hours – Theory in Classroom
2.5 Hours – Practical Field Sessions

No formal testing

 
·         - Content of the certificate courses is the same as the US Soccer Youth License Course and is age specific
·         Level "G"—U-6; Level "F"—U-8 & 10
·         - Focus of the certificate courses is the parent coach who has little or no experience in the game of soccer

“National Youth” License
$600 per candidate

 
Candidates must be 18 years old and hold a National "D" License or have the approval of the State Director of Coaching.

 
6 Days Total: May be held over 2 Weekends with a Friday night session and all-day sessions on Saturday and Sunday
The National Youth License focuses upon the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. The course curriculum covers the ages of 4-12 year olds. Each day of the course, the focus is upon one of the traditional soccer age groups of U-6, U-8, U-10 or U-12. The course combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions and concludes with written, oral and practical examinations.

COACHING EDUCATION COURSE SCHEDULE 
Attention coaches who received their State D License and wish to upgrade to a National D License:
At the end of one year you can upgrade to a National D License. Contact Mike Barr [MBarr@epysa.org] or a coach on the educational staff to watch you do a training session with your team or a team from your club. A grade will be given to the candidate to determine if an upgrade to a National D is warranted. The coach going for the National D will provide the evaluating coach an outline of the practice.
