Scenario 1
After a year of collecting feedback
from the various meetings, e-mails and the questionnaire, it is clear that there
is a consensus that all parties (parents, coaches, players, referees and organizations)
are believed to contribute to a lack of civility. Securing this information (and
not just assuming) the program now moves into the second phase.
In the next six weeks you will notice a new item on the EPYSA home page. Approximately
twice a month a "scenario" will be posted. These "scenarios"
are being taken from the many meetings and e-mails sent over the past year. In
addition to the description of the situation, there will be relevant points to
consider. Please take a moment to consider the scenario described and the points
offered. For each there will be issues related to all parties (parents, coaches,
players, referees and organizations). The purpose of these scenarios is for us
all to begin to consider how the other parties might think and feel and maybe
find more civil ways of dealing with situations.
This marks the first step toward change. We would like to thank all those clubs
that have already taken strides toward controlling ill-behavior and ask that everyone
continue to work at the problem. Over the next year there will be other steps
announced. We would like to thank the many
EPYSA members that have taken their time over the past year to assist in the first
phase of the project. If you would like to
send your comments, please do so to civility@epysa.org. |
